Toefje is developed by Dutch Philomath. You can
delete specific personal data or your entire Toefje app account at any time.
This page explains how to submit a request without reinstalling the app.
Delete your entire account
Option 1 — Delete in the app (recommended)
If you still have the Toefje app installed, you can delete your account directly:
Open the Toefje app and sign in.
Go to Settings (gear icon in the tab bar).
Scroll to the Account section.
Tap Delete account.
Type DELETE to confirm.
Deletion is immediate and permanent. You will be signed out and cannot undo this action.
Option 2 — Request account deletion by email
If you no longer have the app installed, or you are unable to sign in, you can
request account deletion by email. Ownership of the account is verified before
a request is processed.
Email privacy [at] toefje [dot] app from the email address
linked to your Toefje account (the address you used to sign in with Google or Apple).
Use the subject line Account deletion request.
Verified requests are processed within 30 days, with a confirmation
by email once your account and data have been deleted.
Delete specific data without deleting your account
You do not need to delete your entire account to remove certain personal data.
Use one of the options below.
In the app — update or remove preferences
If you still have the app installed, you can remove or change stored preference
data yourself:
Open the Toefje app and sign in.
Go to Settings → Update preferences.
Walk through the onboarding steps and clear or change the data you want removed
(for example allergies, dietary restrictions, household size, or cuisine preferences).
Save your changes when you finish.
Changes take effect immediately. Existing recipes and meal plans already generated
are not automatically deleted by this flow, but future plans will reflect your
updated preferences.
By email — request deletion of specific data
If you cannot use the app, or you want data deleted that cannot be removed
through Settings (such as recipe history or grocery lists), email from the address
linked to your Toefje account.
Email privacy [at] toefje [dot] app with the subject line
Data deletion request. In your message, specify which data you
want deleted. For example:
Allergy or dietary preference data
Household or cooking preference settings
Recipe history, meal plans, or grocery lists
Recipe ratings, favourites, or cooking progress
Any other personal data stored in your Toefje account
Ownership of the account is verified before a request is processed. Verified
requests are handled within 30 days. Your account remains active
unless you also ask for it to be deleted.
What is deleted vs kept (partial requests)
Typically deleted when you request removal of specific data:
The categories you name in your request (preferences, recipes, lists, etc.)
Typically kept unless you also request full account deletion:
Your account login (Google or Apple sign-in)
Data categories you do not ask to have removed
Anonymized usage counters used to enforce free-tier limits (not linked to your name or email)
What gets deleted (full account deletion)
When your entire account is deleted, the following is permanently removed:
Your account profile (name and email from your sign-in provider)
Dietary preferences, allergies, and household settings
Meal plans, recipes, and grocery lists
Recipe ratings, favourites, and cooking progress
Subscription records stored in the Toefje systems
What is retained (and why)
Active subscriptions. If you have an active subscription through
Google Play, cancel it in your Google Play account settings to avoid future charges.
Deleting your Toefje account does not automatically cancel your Play Store subscription.
Anonymized usage counters used to enforce free-tier limits and
prevent abuse. These are not linked to your name or email after account deletion.
Backup or log data held by third-party providers (such as error
monitoring services) may be retained for a limited period under their own retention
policies, but is no longer linked to your account after deletion.
Note: Deleting your entire account cannot be undone. If you sign in
again later with the same Google or Apple account, a new account will be created and
previous data will not be restored.
